Determine what kind of service/website you want First, you need to decide what you want your site to be. That way, you aren't reserving domains that never end up being used. Do you want to create a website? If so, is it static or is it dynamic? What about a server? Does this need to be behind CloudFlare? Register your Domain Next, join the ucanet Discord Server. You will register here. Please make sure to read all the rules/follow any prompts to gain access to all of the channels. Then, enter the Direct Messages of the ucanet-registrar bot. From there, you will check if the domain you would like is available by using the !check somedomain.com command (do not type this command in #register-domain). If your domain is available, go to the #register-domain channel and use the !register yourdomain.com command. You are limited to one domain per every 6 hours, and up to 20 domains/subdomains. Link your Domain to a webhost/server To set the ip address of a domain, enter the Direct Messages of the ucanet-registrar bot and use the !set somedomainofmine.com ipaddress command (do not type this command in #register-domain). All subdomains will link back to this IP address, unless specified otherwise. To do so, just use the same command but with a particular subdomain inside of the domain name. If you would like to link your domain to a Neocities site, use the !neocities adomainiown.com neocitiesname command. If you would like to use a website proxied behind CloudFlare, you will have to have ownership of that exact same domain outside of ucanet. Once your domain is set up outside of ucanet and is behind CloudFlare, go to command prompt/terminal and ping yourwebsite.com to get the CloudFlare ip address, then use the same set command but using the CloudFlare ip address. Again, both domains on ucanet and off ucanet must share the exact same name. Test your Domain To test your domain, wait 10-20 minutes, as this is the amount of time it usually takes to sync ucanet domains. Now, visit your website on a machine that has the ucanet DNS server installed. Success! You have successfully created a website/service with an ucanet-registered domain. |
